Expiration Date: Aug 15, 2019

Description

With the DATA Act, data is beginning to become more consistent and reliable. Now, agencies have a plethora of interesting federal obligation and spending data at our fingertips. While some agencies see it only as an exercise in compliance, others are starting to realize there is a lot of potential with this data. Join this session to explore these points … and more!

  • Understand how agencies and USASpending are using DATA Act data to gain insights and answer questions, particularly through data visualization. What questions can we start to ask and answer using this data? Will agency management change or improve processes knowing they may be under increased scrutiny? Is there a way to link this data to an agency's mission or performance outcomes? Can we start to create benchmarks using type of agency, object class information, or trending over time?
