Governments at all levels provided billions of dollars in disaster aid to help communities recover from the hurricanes and wildfires of 2017. During this session, hear about the lessons learned that can help governments develop best practices in preparing for, responding to and accounting for natural disasters.

Learning Objective

  • The audience will hear from a panel of federal, state, and local government officials about how governments can develop better internal controls and accountability mechanisms to provide timely and targeted financial aid and mitigate the impact on taxpayers' dollars. Discussions will include the results of related audits - their findings and recommendations.
