Description

The General Fund carries out the central accounting function of the federal government, tracking payments and collections annually, each totaling $14 trillion. Officials from the Department of the Treasury and the Government Accountability Office will discuss the importance of the Fund and lessons learned from the first year audit during this informative session.

  • The General Fund transacts with every federal agency that receives appropriations money. This session will give participants an understanding of the importance of this reporting entity and how it can inform Congress and the public about the budget deficit.
