Officials from the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and a state controller’s office will explain how managers can leverage opportunities in the audit process to develop their financial management workforce. Attendees will gain insiders knowledge on how to use on-the-job training to improve their agency’s programs, business processes and financial reporting.
Undergoing audit can be a way for agency financial managers to develop the knowledge and skills of their workforce. But there are challenges as well as opportunities in capturing knowledge from the financial audit experience and applying it to the agency’s performance management. Participants will learn about these challenges and opportunities and be able to see the financial statement audit in a new light: as added value in developing workforce knowledge and skills and keeping them current.
