AGA 2020 Internal Control & Fraud Prevention Training

T106- The Correlation Between Internal Controls, Program Integrity, and Enterprise Risk Management (FOS: MGMT)

Sep 24, 2020 11:35am ‐ Sep 24, 2020 12:25pm

Description

This session will demonstrate the importance of creating a holistic program integrity approach that considers the impact of the organization's internal controls and ERM program.

Learning Objectives:
  • As agencies mature their ERM programs, leveraging them to support and strengthen other agency-wide management activities boosts ERM value and improves mission success. Integrating ERM and internal controls can provide more assurance that mitigants and controls for enterprise-level risks are operating effectively.
  • ERM programs can help internal control and audit functions prioritize high-risk areas for oversight. Additionally, they can augment fraud risk management by creating a culture of risk awareness. Employees throughout the agency begin to proactively identify risk and provide risk reporting processes to improve program integrity.
