Gregory Wilshusen

Dir-Information Security Issues, GAO

Gregory C. Wilshusen is Director of Information Security Issues at GAO, where he has led cybersecurity and privacy-related studies and audits of the federal government and national critical infrastructure. He has over 35 years of auditing, financial management, and information systems experience. He has testified at over 60 U.S. congressional and presidential commission hearings.

Prior to joining GAO in 1997, Mr. Wilshusen held a variety of public and private sector positions. He served as the Controller for the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health, and Natural Resources, and held senior auditing positions at Irving Burton Associates, Inc. and the U.S. Army Audit Agency. He is a certified ethical hacker, certified information systems auditor, and licensed certified public accountant. He holds a B.S. degree in business administration (accounting) from the University of Missouri and an M.S. in information management from George Washington University’s School of Engineering & Applied Science, and was a Senior Executive Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
