Dale R. Killinger

Mr. Killinger, was a former Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI, he was appointed as the Section Chief, Insider Threat Center on Apr 20, 2014. The Insider Threat Center is the FBI’s central, strategic coordinating component for internal and external insider threat issues.
Mr. Killinger has served as the Assistant Section Chief for Operations at the FBI’s Foreign Terrorist Tracking Task Force; as the Unit Chief, Proactive Data Exploitation Unit, FTTTF; and as a Supervisory Special Agent in the FBI’s Office of the Chief Information Officer, User Advocacy Unit. Mr. Killinger also served 10 years with the FBI as a Special Agent in the Oxford Resident Agency, Jackson Field Office, Mississippi, where he was responsible for a conducting a variety of investigations including alleged violations involving Crimes Against Children, Civil Rights, Murder and Public Corruption. His most notable work in Jackson was as the lead Special Agent into the 1955 murder of Emmett Till, a fourteen-year-old black boy who was killed for whistling at a white woman. He also served as the Operational Business Manager for the FBI’s Investigative Data Warehouse and the Data Integration and Visualization System for a period of six years.
Mr. Killinger served as an enlisted soldier with the Army’s 2nd Ranger Battalion from 1980 –1984, participating in Operation Urgent Fury in the country of Grenada and the rescue of hostages there. During college he entered the Reserve Officer Training Corps, receiving his commission and attending the Military Intelligence Officer’s Basic and Advanced Courses in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. From 1985 until his entry into the FBI in 1996, Mr. Killinger served in the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserves.
Mr. Killinger holds a BA from Millersville University, Pennsylvania, is an FBI certified Police Instructor and Crisis Negotiator as well as Certifications from Carnegie Melon University as an Insider Threat Program Manager and Insider Threat Vulnerability Assessor.
