F. Michael Taylor CPA, CIA

F. MICHAEL (MIKE) TAYLOR, CPA, CIA, serves as Director of Performance Audit Services for the Virginia Office of the State Inspector General. Prior to working in state government, Mike spent 29 years in local government performance auditing with cities and a county in Virginia and California. He also worked in public accounting and as controller for a non-profit organization. 

Mike is a past-president of and a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA). He represented ALGA on the National Coordinating Committee for the Key National Indicators Initiative and served on several ALGA committees. Mike was a member of the Comptroller General’s Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards from 2010 to 2016. Since 2013, he has served on the Comptroller General’s Advisory Council on Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government. Mike holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Virginia Tech.
