In October 2020, Lisa Ziehmann joined NASA’s Langley Research Center as the center’s Associate Director. In this capacity, she serves as the chief operating officer managing day-to-day operations with a focus on center commitments. She is responsible for aligning Langley’s institutional resources and infrastructure to meet current and future NASA mission needs, optimizing both effectiveness and efficiency. In January 2020, Lisa was appointed the Deputy Associate Administrator for NASA’s Mission Support Directorate (MSD) where she, in partnership with the Associate Administrator for MSD, was responsible for advising the NASA Administrator and Deputy Administrator on all aspects of institutional support encompassing an annual budget of over $3 Billion. She collaboratively provided oversight for agencywide mission enabling functions. This included oversight of the Safety, Security, and Mission Services and the Construction and Environmental compliance and Restoration budgets. She also served as the agency focal point for centers and other offices on matters relating to mission support requirements, including balancing Mission Directorate, Mission Support Office, and center priorities, and leading inter-center work assignments. Prior to joining the Mission Support Directorate, Ziehmann was NASA’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Finance where she was responsible for senior executive oversight of the agency’s financial operations and reporting, policy development, financial audit, and internal controls. Ziehmann also served as the Director for Financial Policy and Operations at the General Services Administration (GSA) in Washington, D.C. Before joining the GSA, she served as the Deputy Budget Director for NASA, where she oversaw budget formulation, justification, and execution functions for the agency’s diverse budget portfolio.
