George D. Strudgeon, CPA, CGFM, CGMA, MBA, is an Audit Director at the Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts. He specializes in compliance assurance and his team coordinates the single audit for the Commonwealth of Virginia using requirements set forth by Uniform Guidance, the Yellow Book, and the AICPA. George currently serves on the AICPA’s Government Audit Quality Center’s Executive Committee and on the Steering Committee for AGA’s Intergovernmental Partnership. The Intergovernmental Partnership produces products related to: Implementing Fraud Prevention Strategies; Developing Laws and Regulations; and Reducing Future Improper Payments through Cooperative Audit Resolution. George also serves on the National State Auditors Association's Single Audit Committee and was involved in the development of the AICPA's Single Audit Certificate exam. In his capacity as an auditor, George has been following the development of the DATA Act and is excited to soon be following the Virginia Comptroller’s participation in a DATA Act pilot
