Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audit, USDA-OIG

Since 2011, Steve H. Rickrode has served as a Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audit, Office of Inspector General, United States Department of Agriculture. In his position, Mr. Rickrode is responsible for a diverse audit portfolio including all performance audits in the mission areas of food safety, animal and plant health, marketing, stewardship, and conservation; Rural Development agencies, which encompass the rural business, housing, and utilities business sectors; and all audits of information technology and financial operations at the United States Department of Agriculture. In addition, Mr. Rickrode is the lead executive for the Office of Audit’s training program and its electronic audit documentation suite. 

Prior to his selection as a Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audit, Mr. Rickrode served as the Director for the Rural Development and Natural Resources Division as well as the Administration and Finance Division at United States Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General. Mr. Rickrode began his Federal career as an auditor for the General Services Administration, Office of Inspector General, in Washington, DC. He has held various managerial positions within four Federal Offices of Inspector General with increasing levels of responsibility. Prior to joining Agriculture, he served as the Assistant Inspector for Audit at the Federal Communications Commission, Office of Inspector General where he was responsible for all audits conducted at the Commission and its international operations.
