Mr. Aaron Oatley
Data Scientist, USDA OIG Office of Analytics and Innovation
Aaron attended Texas State University where he majored in Theater, Voice, Chemistry, Law Enforcement, Communications, and finally after 150 hours earned a degree in Accounting. Aaron was hired by OIG as an Auditor directly out of college and continued auditing for sixteen years. He developed an affinity for using analytics to direct his audit work. Translating broken business rules to the universe of program data resulted in billions in findings. In 2016 Aaron joined OIG’s Office of Analytics and Innovation. He returned to school earning an Associate’s in Mathematics from Temple College, and will complete his Master’s in Data Science from Texas Tech in May of 2021. In his free time Aaron enjoys hunting, fishing, competitive pistol shooting, and trips to the mountains to escape the Texas heat.
