Internal Control Team Lead, Risk Management and Assurance, Department of Homeland Security
Alex is a Lead Reviewer in the Risk Management & Assurance Division within Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer. In her role, Alex supports the Department’s efforts to achieve an unmodified opinion over internal controls over financial reporting. Leveraging both private and Federal experience, Alex has extensive experience in financial accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. Alex joined USDA in 2018 as a Systems Accountant responsible for ICOFR design, implementation, and assessment. While at USDA, she remediated a long-standing material weakness pertaining to service provider monitoring. Alex holds a BS in Accounting from Virginia Tech and will earn her Master’s degree from National Defense University in July 2024. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). An active AGA member, Alex has served for several years as a Certificate of Excellence in Accountability Reporting (CEAR) Reviewer.
