Alyssa Smiley has served in the role of the Acting Risk Management & Assurance Division Director at the Department of Homeland Security since August 2020. In this capacity, Ms. Smiley is responsible for developing and implementing Department-wide internal control over financial reporting guidance, leading the coordination and collaboration for annual Component execution, and ensuring annual requirements are satisfied. Through her leadership, Ms. Smiley remains diligent in her efforts to move the Department towards a clean internal control over financial reporting opinion, to support the efficient and effective use of funds, and to safeguard DHS financial systems and processes. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia and a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance. She is a Certified Information Systems Auditor, Cybersecurity Professional, Data Privacy Solutions Engineer, Ethical Hacker, and Forensic Hacking Investigator.
