Amber Howey

Amber Howey currently serves as the Audit Readiness Lead for the Program Executive Office, Defense Healthcare Management Systems (PEO DHMS), a position she has held since January 2022. Amber specializes in leading the enterprise through complex regulatory landscapes and risk management challenges. With over 20 years of experience in financial consulting and compliance advisory, Amber is known for developing proactive audit strategies that help reduce administrative burden on program offices and ensure continuous improvement. Amber holds a B.S. in Accounting from Central Michigan University. Prior to Joining PEO DHMS, Amber held leadership roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, overseeing a national management group charged with assessing regulatory changes, and developing strategies to ensure PwC’s clientele remained in compliance with the least minimal impact to their business and budget. She served as a subject matter expert in internal controls, systematic solutions, financial analytics, and SOX 404 Compliance. She has a proven track record of reducing nonconformities and improving audit turnaround times for clients.
