Assistant Inspector General for Inspections, State OIG

Arne B. Baker is the Assistant Inspector General in the Department of State OIG’s Office of Inspections. He joined OIG in 2001 and has participated in inspections of more than 80 overseas posts and bureaus. Mr. Baker leads OIG’s worldwide inspections program, carrying out oversight of the Department of State’s overseas posts and domestic bureaus. Prior to assuming this position, Mr. Baker served as the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Inspections. He also served as the Director of the Policy Implementation Division, where he was responsible for oversight of core diplomatic operations such as consular, public diplomacy, foreign assistance, and policy engagement. Mr. Baker served as the Supervisory General Services Officer in Khartoum, Sudan, from 2007 to 2009. Before joining OIG, he worked at the Drug Enforcement Administration. Mr. Baker has a B.A. from the University of Oregon and M.A. degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the National Defense University’s College of International Security Affairs.
