City Auditor, City and County of Honolulu Office of the City Auditor

Arushi Kumar, CGFM, CICA, is the current City Auditor for the City and County of Honolulu. She has overseen the publication of several high-profile audits, including IT modernization efforts, HPD overtime expenditures, and HR personnel management. Previously, she was an analyst with the City of Seattle Budget Office, where she managed a portfolio of City departments and crosscutting policy issue areas with a $400 million budget. She began her auditing career as an analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), on the Health Care mission team. Arushi is a local government audit representative on GAO’s Domestic Working Group. The 20-member body, led by the U.S. Comptroller General, includes 7 federal IG representatives and 12 state, county, and city auditors. She earned a B.A. in Economics and a Master of Public Policy degree, both from the University of Virginia. She is an active member of the AGA Hawaii Chapter, the Association of Local Government Auditors, and the Institute for Internal Auditors.
