Caitlin Gehring currently serves as the acting Assistant Commissioner and Chief Customer Officer at the Department of Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service (Fiscal Service) since May 2024. Prior to this role, she held the position of Senior Advisor to the Commissioner and Director of FOIA and Exec Sec at Fiscal Service for four years, providing consultation on a range of financial matters including disbursements, collections, debt financing, accounting, and shared services. Before her tenure as Senior Advisor, Caitlin worked as an attorney-advisor in the Fiscal Service Office of the Chief Counsel from 2015 to 2020, where she was involved in negotiating agreements with financial institutions and supporting savings bond litigation. She also contributed her expertise to Treasury's Office of Financial Innovation and Transformation, assisting in drafting financial system standards and certifying federal shared service providers. Additionally, she played a role in Treasury's Office of Financial Stability, aiding homeowners in avoiding foreclosure. Caitlin earned her law degree from the American University Washington College of Law and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and English from the University of Delaware.
