Committed to advancing federal financial management by promoting financial integrity, strong internal controls, and financial excellence, Ms. Calandra Layne serves as the Acting Director, Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation (FIAR) directorate within the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller).
Prior to her current assignment, Calandra led the Department of Defense Risk Management and Internal Control Program; and, oversaw the Department’s audit-infrastructure and audit liaison initiatives for the DoD-wide Consolidated Audit. Before joining the government in 2019, Calandra’s career spanned more than 15 years in the private sector.
Calandra is a Certified Defense Financial Manager and a Project Management Professional. She is a graduate of George Mason University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She is the recipient of a Grant Thornton Public Sector Working Mother of the Year Award and 2017 AGA National Author Award.
