Deputy CFO, US Coast Guard

Craig Bennett is the Deputy Assistant Commandant for Resources and Deputy Chief Financial Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Bennett has responsibility for financial management and financial reporting to include audit and internal controls, budget formulation and budget execution. He also serves as the Coast Guard’s Chief Risk Officer. A component of the Department of Homeland Security, the Coast Guard has an annual budget of $10 billion. A retired Coast Guard officer, Mr. Bennett’s active duty experience included financial management assignments in the field and on staff, as well as operational assignments that included eight years of sea duty. Prior to his current position he served as the Director of the Coast Guard’s National Pollution Funds Center, where he was responsible for all aspects of the liability and compensation provisions of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 including stewardship of the multi-billion dollar Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund. Mr. Bennett graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1982 and from the University of Washington in 1992 with a Master of Business Administration degree.
