Dean Carpenter

Dean Carpenter is a senior auditor at GAO with over 30 years of audit experience. He currently serves as the professional development program advisor for GAO’s Financial Management and Assurance team, where he oversees and directs the development of all newly hired financial auditors. He is also GAO’s liaison for the Joint Financial Management Improvement Program. In this role, he leads the JFMIP planning committee, consisting of members from the four principal organizations, that is responsible for planning the annual conference, other training events, and quarterly meetings for the principals. He also assisted with the development of JFMIP’s three year plan to advance payment integrity. Dean has a BA in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from Georgetown University.
