As the Cherry Bekaert GPS State and Local practice leader, Denise assists organizations predict, prepare, protect, manage and respond to risk through the development and implementation of holistic and innovative solutions. As part of her responsibilities, she oversees all grants management services and solutions at Cherry Bekaert. For the majority of her career, Denise has been focused on enhancing financial management and risk management processes to better support an organization’s mission and strategic objectives. She has led large and complex projects working with Chief Financial Officers and Chief Risk Officers in developing and implementing enterprise risk management (ERM), risk management, internal control, and grant compliance programs for organizations in the public sector. Denise is active in the financial and risk management community. She has been interviewed on the radio, television, and in print, and has presented at numerous conferences as a speaker on financial and risk management. Denise authored the chapter, Managing Risk in Changing Times with Enterprise Risk Management, in the book, Managing Public Dollars (2007) and is the co-author of several articles and research papers on financial and risk management. In addition, she was the Chair of the Corporate Advisory Group for the Association of Federal Enterprise Risk Management (AFERM) Prior to joining Cherry Bekaert, Ms. Lippuner was a partner at both Grant Thornton and IBM, responsible for leading its Public Sector Risk Advisory Practices.
