Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Inspector General (DHS OIG)

Don Bumgardner joined the DHS Office of Inspector General in 2006 and was a Director in the Office Emergency Management Operations before moving to the Office of Audits in 2011. Prior to his arrival at DHS, Mr. Bumgardner worked at the Government Accountability Office for 19 years which included a 1 year detail to the Private Sector Council and a 3 year detail to the Senate Homeland and Governmental Affairs Committee. Mr. Bumgardner graduated with a Master’s degree in public administration from West Virginia University and conducted additional graduate work at the University of Virginia on federal procurement. In July 2015, Mr. Bumgardner attended Harvard University’s Senior Managers in Government—an executive development training course. He received his bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State College.
