Mr. Ed Gardiner

Assistant Deputy Commandant (Resources), Programs and Resources Dept, U.S. Marine Corps

Mr. Gardiner currently serves as the Assistant Deputy Commandant

(Resources), Programs and Resources Department, Headquarters, U.S. Marine

Corps. His responsibilities include advising the Commandant, Assistant Commandant, and Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources on budget, financial operations, and financial audit issues impacting the Marine Corps. His daily

duties include oversight of the Marine Corps' Budget and Execution Division, Fiscal

Division, and the Technology Services Organization. He also advocates for the

Financial Management Community across the Marine Corps.

Prior to his current assignment Mr. Gardiner served as the Director of the Budget and Execution Division from 2011 to 2015, where he was responsible for the administrative control of over $24 billion per year in directly appropriated Marine Corps funding on behalf of the Commandant and the Fiscal Director as well as the development, marketing and defense of the Marine Corps annual budget submission to Congress.

Mr. Gardiner has 28 years of experience working in both the military and civilian Marine Corps roles. In addition to his service as Budget Director, he also served as Deputy Director of Program, Budget, and Execution Division, and Head, Budget and Congressional Coordination Branch. His military operating forces experience includes service as a Marine artillery officer at the Joint, MEF, Battalion, and Battery level. His military supporting establishment experience includes service as Head, Program Development and Coordination Branch, Program Development Officer (“Prince of the POM”), Head, Aviation Financial Management Branch at MARFORCOM, and Officer Selection Officer, Norman, Oklahoma.

Mr. Gardiner holds a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University and a M.S. in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. His awards and ribbons include the Legion of Merit, two Meritorious Service Medals, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He serves as a Vice President on the National Executive Committee for the American Society of Military Comptrollers.
