Edom Aweke CGFM, CPA

Ms. Aweke was appointed as the Associate Director for the newly established Office of Planning, Performance, and Risk, and is responsible for directing the FHFA's Strategic Plan, Performance and Risk management functions. Ms. Aweke serves as the Vice Chair for the Audit, Risk, and Control Committee (ARCC) tasked with comprehensive oversight of the Agency’s external audit activities, monitoring the remediation of reported audit findings, assessing FHFA’s internal controls, conducting annual assurance reporting, and ensuring ongoing risk management. Ms. Aweke is Chair of the Senior Assessment Team (SAT) responsible for overseeing the effective facilitation and execution of risks and internal control governance activities. In addition, as the FHFA Audit Follow-up Official, Ms. Aweke ensures management responses are submitted timely, resolves disagreements on recommendations as needed, and reviews corrective actions to ensure actions were taken to satisfactorily address external audit recommendations. Aweke is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from George Mason University.
