Jim Garner
Administrator of the Office of Unemployment Insurance, U.S. Department of Labor
Jim Garner serves as the Administrator of the Office of Unemployment Insurance in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration and has served in that role since July 2021. Previously, he served as Deputy Administrator of the Office starting in June, 2012. Prior to his federal service, Jim served eight years as the Secretary of Labor for the State of Kansas (2003-2011), where he served as the senior executive and administrator of the state agency operating the state’s unemployment insurance, workers compensation, and other programs serving workers and employers in the state. Jim is a graduate of Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas (“Rock Chalk Jayhawks!”).
