Mr. Joseph Thele

Joseph (Joe) Thele is the Executive Director Human Resources Information Technology & Analytics, where he is the principle advisor within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on enterprise information systems enabling human resources services through modernization and innovative programs in support of Veterans and their families. In this role, Mr. Thele leads initiatives to improve the employee experience by leveraging automation in Human Resource services.

Prior to joining the VA, Mr. Thele spent over 27 years with the Department of the Air Force and Department of Defense, most recently serving as the Chief Technology Officer and Director of Enterprise Human Resources Information Systems for the Defense Military Data Center. Mr. Thele has received the Secretary of Defense Civilian Service Excellence Award, two Department of the Air Force Civilian Meritorious Service Awards, and the Department of the Air Force Exemplary Civilian Service Award in recognition of large complex military and civilian human resource systems modernization efforts he had the privilege to lead.
