Katherine Trimble

Assistant IG for Audits, EPA OIG

Katherine Trimble is the Assistant Inspector General for Audits at the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of the Inspector General, which she joined in September 2020. Katherine manages a diverse oversight portfolio of EPA’s business processes, including grants and contracts, information technology, and financial management; EPA program economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; and over $100 billion in funding EPA received from the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Katherine previously served as the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits at the Department of Homeland Security OIG, where she oversaw disaster management and infrastructure protection programs and testified on FEMA contracting issues before the House Homeland Security Committee. Katherine worked at the Government Accountability Office from 1998 to 2018 where she led reviews of DHS major acquisitions; federal procurement issues; the federal response to the U.S. financial crisis (TARP); federal, state, and local responses to natural disasters; and the impact of federal programs on local growth management. Katherine has received numerous awards recognizing her contributions to the oversight community spanning audit leadership, human capital initiatives, and external coordination, including a GAO Honor Award for Meritorious Service. Katherine holds a M.S in National Security and Resource Strategy from the National Defense University Dwight D. Eisenhower School (2017), a M.A. in Policy Analysis from the Johns Hopkins University (1998), and a B.A. in American History from Earlham College (1992).
