Linnea Xu

Linnea Powell Xu is the Branch Manager for Data Publication at the Fiscal Service, overseeing the USAspending.gov and Data Lab websites, which serve as the authoritative resource for federal spending data and were products of the first government-wide agile project in implementing the DATA Act. She has served in a variety of roles in Fiscal Service’s Office of the Chief Data Officer, starting as an analyst on the Data Lab team, where she received the Gears of Government Award for her contributions to promote transparency and public understanding of government financial data. She has served as Product Owner for two teams; first, as Product Owner for the redesigned USAspending, and later as Product Owner responsible for the launch of the Fiscal Data website. She also previously served as the Acting Branch Manager for Data Analytics. In these roles, Linnea has accrued years of practical experience with data analysis, data visualization, human-centered design, web development, and Agile methods. Linnea began her career in federal service as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2017. Prior to coming to the Fiscal Service, Linnea worked as an Implementation Manager in the private sector, supporting a B2B website that consistently received accolades for its user interface and responsiveness, and taught high school English in the Mississippi Delta through Teach for America. Linnea received a B.A. in Government and Religious Studies at Claremont McKenna College and a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
