Mrs. Margie Toney CGFM

Margie began her career journey in 1988 as a Clerk with the Retirement Systems of Alabama. She earned an undergraduate degree from Troy University in 1998 and a master’s degree from Alabama State University in 2005, both in accounting, while working full-time. She joined AGA in 2002 and earned her CGFM designation in 2009. In January 2021, Margie retired from the position of CFO of the Alabama Department of Labor, grateful for a total of 32.5 years of state employment in government financial management. She now enjoys very part-time work as a Governmental Accounting Program Consultant and Adjunct Instructor with Auburn University Montgomery. Margie lives in Montgomery, Alabama and has been married to her loving and devoted husband, John, for 45 years. They serve in pastoral ministry and are blessed with three children and two granddaughters.
