Mary Hammond
Executive Director - Global Operations Policy and Support, IRS
Mary Hammond entered Senior Executive Service (SES) in April 2022 and is the Executive Director of Global Operations Policy & Support division of the Internal Revenue Service- Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) in Headquarters, Washington D.C. Ms. Hammond is responsible for all IRS-CI operations and policy for International Operations, Financial Crimes, Special Investigative Techniques, Narcotics and National Security Section, and Asset Recovery and Investigative Services.
Ms. Hammond began her career as a Special Agent in 1999 in Miami, Florida, served as a Supervisory Special Agent in St. Louis, Missouri and then held positions of increasing leadership responsibility in Washington D.C, Houston, Texas, and Tampa, Florida.
Ms. Hammond returned to IRS-CI Headquarters as the Deputy Director of Operations Policy and Support and later became CI’s first Executive Director of a new division, Advanced Analytics and Innovation, where she managed IRS-CI’s refund crimes and data analytics programs, which leverages data and technology to identify gaps in tax compliance, money laundering and other financial crimes.
Ms. Hammond proudly serves as one of the highest-ranked female agents within the IRS-CI organization and is proud to further IRS-CI’s mission of investigating potential criminal violations of the Internal Revenue Code and related financial crimes in a manner that fosters confidence in the tax system and compliance with the law.
Ms. Hammond is a proud member of Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE) and Executive Women in Government (EWG).
