Matt Garber is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fiscal Operations and Policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. In this role, Matt oversees the development and implementation of policies relating to the federal government's cash management, debt financing operations, investment and administration of trust funds, disbursements, collections, and debt collections. He works closely with the Bureau of the Fiscal Service to provide executive oversight of the daily operations for the federal government’s financial management programs and systems. Previously, Matt served as the Fiscal Service’s inaugural Chief Customer Officer, responsible for leading the creation and execution of an enterprise customer experience strategy including developing a customer-centric culture, understanding the needs of a wide variety of customer segments, and driving product and service delivery improvements for federal agencies, financial institutions, and the public. Fiscal Service is the financial management leader of the Federal Government, responsible for the mission critical functions of payments, collections, accounting, and debt financing. Before joining Treasury, Matt led talent acquisition and marketing programs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). During this time, he helped build the CFPB from the ground up – implementing novel and cutting-edge approaches to common organizational problems. Prior to federal service, Matt held a variety of roles building programs and leading transformational change at a tech startup, a non-profit foundation, and a liberal arts college.
