Senior Advisor for Legal Review, HHS-OIG

Megan Tinker is Senior Advisor for Legal Review for the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She advises the OIG on jurisdiction and oversight issues under the IG Act, and health care fraud and compliance matters, including Medicaid, Medicare and grant programs. Ms. Tinker oversees the OIG’s legal review of Audits and Evaluations and the provision of legal advice to all parts of the OIG on a wide range of issues dealing with fraud, waste and abuse in HHS programs and grants.

Ms. Tinker has spoken to the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors, American Health Lawyers Association and the American Association of Public Welfare Attorneys and provides training on OIG jurisdiction and authorities. Ms. Tinker is a guest lecturer at the American University, Washington College of Law, Health Law Program. In 2012, she received the OIG’s Bronze Medal for Outstanding Employee of the Year. Ms. Tinker graduated cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law in 1999 and with honors from University of Richmond in 1993.
