Melissa Prunchak is an Audit Manager at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Office of Inspector General (OIG) where she oversees the annual audit of NSF’s information security program. During her time at NSF, Melissa has worked on audits and reviews related to its major facilities, vetting of personnel assigned under the Intergovernmental Personal Act, oversight over international telework, and vetting of U.S. Antarctic Program contractors. Prior to joining NSF in 2016, Melissa was with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) OIG where she conducted complex department-wide audits and component specific reviews. In 2023, Melissa graduated from the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Fellows Program which included leadership development training and an interagency rotation assignment. Melissa completed a 9-month rotation at the U.S. Postal Service OIG serving the Inspector General in the front office assisting with CIGIE Technology Committee projects. Melissa has over 15 years of federal service within the OIG community, received several CIGIE Team Awards for Excellence, and is a Certified Fraud Examiner.
