Finance Center Commanding Officer, US Coast Guard

CAPT Mike Danish assumed the duties of the US Coast Guard Finance Center (FINCEN) Commanding Officer on January 14, 2022. As Commanding Officer, CAPT Danish leads a team of over 500 civil service, military and contractor professionals to process payments, account for revenue, collections, intergovernmental transactions and property, and generate financial reports for the U.S. Coast Guard. FINCEN also delivers a similar portfolio of services to the Transportation Security Administration and the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office, which are both fellow entities within the Department of Homeland Security. CAPT Danish has also served as the Deputy Chief, Office of Internal Control at Coast Guard Headquarters where he led 20 civilian, military, and contract accountants to assess risk and evaluate the performance of the Coast Guard’s financial controls and management assurance frameworks. His team directly supported the initial and four consecutive un-modified financial statement audit opinions during his tenure. Additionally, CAPT Danish conducted extensive management consulting activities within the US Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security to implement enterprise risk management frameworks to improve data driven management oversight while reducing bureaucratic process. CAPT Danish graduated with honors from the US Coast Guard Academy in 2000 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. A 2014 graduate of the Miami Herbert School of Business as valedictorian, he was conferred a master’s in business administration with a concentration in Management Science and Six Sigma Quality Management. His is a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) and a Six Sigma Black Belt.
