Michael is the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Digital Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014 (DATA Act) team lead and a systems accountant. Michael has been in the public sector with DHS since 2009. Besides DATA Act, he led the Department-wide effort in Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act reporting from 2010 to 2015. While in DHS’s Internal Controls Program Management Office, he worked on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act transparency reporting. While the Department’s current focus is on data quality improvement and internal controls, efforts are underway for further data collection and an enterprise-wide consolidated data repository. Michael is leading both efforts. He possesses a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland, University College.
