Nelson Alvarado CDFM, CFE

Mr. Alvarado is an experienced leader with over 20 plus years of experience and has dedicated his entire career to supporting the mission of the Federal Financial Management community. In his current role with the DOI Office of Financial Management (PFM), Internal Controls and Evaluation (IC&E) Division, he oversees the department’s OMB A-123 program. Mr. Alvarado has supported the financial management community his entire career and has demonstrated excellent results while performing; audit readiness, audit coordination, and post audit related activities (e.g. remediation, sustainment, etc.). Nelson also has a strong aptitude in the following areas; Enterprise Risk Management, Business Strategy & Operations, Internal Controls, Financial Statement Audits, Financial Management, and Business Process Reengineering. Additionally, Mr. Alvarado holds an MBA with a concentration in Accounting, Certified Defense Financial Manager, Certified Fraud Examiner, and a candidate for the Certified Public Accountant exam.
