Ransomware is a serious and growing threat to government operations at the federal, state and local levels. Numerous ransomware attacks on hospitals, schools, emergency services, and other industries have recently been reported. In response, certain federal agencies increased ransomware prevention assistance to state, local, tribal and territorial government organizations (SLTTs).

Federal assistance for SLTTs to address ransomware threats is essential in preventing and responding to related incidents.
