Counsel To the Inspector General, AmeriCorps OIG

Pamela Van Dort currently serves as Acting Counsel to the Inspector General at AmeriCorps’ Office of Inspector General (OIG). In this role, she directs the Office of Counsel, which advises the Inspector General, senior leadership, and OIG staff on a full range of legal and strategic issues, including audits, investigations, ethics, and appropriations. She previously served as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Inspector General for Investigation at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) OIG. In this role, Pamela participated in all substantive aspects of strategy, operations, policy, training, personnel matters, outreach, and communications for HUD OIG’s 185-person Office of Investigation (OI). Prior to that, Pamela served as the Director of Grant Oversight Strategy at HUD OIG where she collaborated with HUD OIG leadership and staff on a broad range of issues, including oversight planning and strategy, outreach, and training. Pamela also spent more than a decade as a Senior Investigative Attorney at the National Science Foundation, OIG, Office of Investigations where she worked collaboratively with special agents, prosecutors, and forensic auditors to investigate allegations of civil, criminal, and administrative fraud, waste, and abuse related to NSF and other federal programs. Pamela has also spent time in private practice focused on complex business litigation. She received her Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hope College in Michigan. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner.
