Acting Deputy Assistant Inspector General, Dept of Homeland Security OIG

Paul Wood is the Acting Deputy Assistant Inspector General for DHS OIG's Office of Audits. He joined the DHS OIG in April 2007. Paul has almost 32 years of headquarters and field experience leading performance audits and evaluations of DHS' programs, and operations including FEMA, CBP, TSA, U.S. Secret Service and other DHS components including his most recent work for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. He previously served as Acting Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits and Chief of Audit Resources at DHS/OIG and as Assistant Inspector General for Communications where he lead congressional and public affairs, served as the Chief of Staff to the IG, and Director and Regional Audit Manager at the Social Security Administration (SSA). Paul previously served as Congressional and Public Affairs Liaison for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, OIG and at Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights. Paul is the recipient of numerous awards including; three Council on Inspector General's Awards for his audits including: the Federal Protective Service's Use of Fleet Vehicles, Transportation Security Administration's Office of Inspections, and the Glenn Roth Award for his work on the SSN Protection Act. At DHS OIG, he was selected as the OIG's Manager of the Year in 2015 and received similar awards at SSA OIG as both an individual and as a Division Director.
