Rachel Swanner started in the accounting field early, doing the books for her family’s Eastern Washington organic vegetable farm. Rachel earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Accounting) from Washington State University, her MBA from Western Governors University and most recently, her CPA in 2021. After receiving her BA, Rachel worked in the private sector until 2017, focusing mostly on healthcare finance and accounting. Her specialties included financial reporting, system integrations, and reconciliations. The call to governmental accounting came in 2017 when Rachel began to hold numerous financial leadership roles within Washington State government. She has worked at the Department of Early Learning, Department of Children, Youth and Families, Department of Social and Health Services, Department of Labor and Industries and now serves as the Chief Financial Officer at the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board. Rachel’s personal vision statement is "I am a strong-minded, skilled financial professional dedicated to building and ensuring the integrity, accountability, and sustainability of state agency financial policies and processes. I see and encourage a collaborative, inclusive environment that promotes learning at all levels."
