Acting Chief Information Security Officer, Department of the Treasury

Rick Therrien currently serves as the acting Chief Information Security Officer for the Department of The Treasury. As such, Rick leads a high-performing organization responsible for the Department’s Cybersecurity Program to proactively protect information, services, and assets of both sensitive unclassified and national security systems throughout the Department. He partners with other national authorities on policy and requirements such as the Office of Management and Budget, the Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Services Agency, the Committee on National Security Systems, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He is also a participant in the federal Cyber Workforce Working Group committed to recruit and retain the best cybersecurity talent throughout the nation for a career in government. Previously, Rick led Cybersecurity Operations for the Internal Revenue Service responsible for detecting and responding to cyberattacks and significant events, online identity fraud, and insider threats to internal digital information. Rick also delivered several large-scale technology solutions that protect the IRS’ expansive network of internal systems and cloud platforms and established all IRS security policies on Information Technology.
