Sean Mildrew is the Acting Chief Financial Officer of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He oversees an annual budget exceeding $3 billion and serves as principal advisor to the USPTO Director on accounting, budgeting, fee setting, strategic planning, and organizational performance systems. Prior to his designation as Acting CFO, Mr. Mildrew served as the USPTO Deputy CFO since 2018.
Before joining USPTO, Mr. Mildrew was Acting Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Finance at Customs and Border Protection (CBP); he also served as CBP’s Chief Accountability Officer. Mr. Mildrew began his career at the General Services Administration, where earned the agency’s Meritorious Service Award in 2002.
