Award-Winning Journalist, Entrepreneur and Host of the Weekly Syndicated Political Show Matter of Fact

Soledad O’Brien is an award-winning documentarian, journalist, speaker, author, and philanthropist, who founded Soledad O’Brien Productions, a multi-platform media production company dedicated to telling empowering and authentic stories on a range of social issues. She anchors and produces the Hearst TV political magazine program Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien, and is a correspondent for HBO Real Sports. Soledad is a thought leader, with over 1.3 million Twitter followers, who has a national impact through her speeches and numerous documentary films which have appeared on HBO, Discovery Plus, Peacock, PBS and others. She also has a presence on op-ed pages of places like the New York Times and Huffington Post and gave Congressional testimony on media disinformation. Earlier in her career, O’Brien anchored a show for MSNBC, before moving on to co-anchor NBC’s Weekend Today and contributing segments to the Today Show and NBC Nightly News. In 2003, O’Brien transitioned to CNN, where she was the face of CNN’s morning news shows for many years and a frequent reporter and analyst for breaking news stories and election coverage. She also anchored the CNN documentary unit, where she created the In America documentary series Black in America and Latino in America which she continued to produce under Soledad O’Brien Productions as speaking tours. She has reported specials for BET, Fox, A&E, Oxygen, Nat Geo, PBS NewsHour, WebMD, and Al Jazeera America, among others. Upon founding Soledad O’Brien Productions, she continued to produce documentaries and series on topics that included hunger, racism, youth incarceration, police brutality, veterans with PTSD, and the opioid epidemic for Al Jazeera, CNN, HBO, and BET, among others. O’Brien has been recognized with four Emmy awards -- for her coverage of the Haiti earthquake, the 2012 election, the CNN series Kids and Race, and most with a Sports Emmy Award for HBO Real Sports.
