Tanya Harris CPA

Tanya Harris has been with the County of Riverside for 20 years. She spent her first three years with the Department of Behavioral Health before joining the Auditor-Controller’s Office where she currently serves as the Assistant Auditor-Controller. She oversees five divisions that include the administration division, general accounting division, property tax division, payroll division, and internal audits division. She also brings extensive private sector business experience to the position. She was the Assistant Controller for Stater Bros Markets, the Accounting Manager for Canon USA and Symbol Technologies, and the Accounting Officer for the Department of the Navy. Ms. Harris holds a Doctorate and Master’s degree in Public Administration from California Baptist University where she now serves as an Adjunct Professor. Her dissertation was entitled “Employee Engagement: The Path to Understanding Public Sector Silent Heroes – Millennial Accountants. She also holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a graduate of University of California Riverside’s Accounting for Governmental & Non-Profit Certification Program. Ms. Harris is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the states of California and Virginia. In addition Ms. Harris is the former Treasurer for the Inland Empire Chapter of American Society of Public Administrators and former president of the Association of Government Accountants, Inland Empire Chapter. She is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association. Finally, Ms. Harris is also a graduate of Academy Leadership: Developing Leaders Who Deliver Results.
