Terrell Smith is the Cybersecurity Compliance Branch Chief at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Mr. Smith has more than 14 years of professional Information Technology (IT) Assurance and consulting experience, including work in both civilian and defense federal agencies. In his current role, Mr. Smith is responsible for leading and managing all cyber audits at the enterprise level, including FISMA and other OIG and GAO audits. In addition, Mr. Smith manages the reporting and compliance of FISMA metrics, Executive Orders, and OMB memorandums. His expertise includes but is not limited to internal and external audits, as well as governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). Mr. Smith is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Project Management Professional (PMP), and holds several additional certifications (i.e., Security+ and Adopting Zero Trust). Mr. Smith attended the University of Maryland – College Park where he received his Bachelor’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice and the University of Maryland – Global Campus where he received both a Master’s in Information Technology: Information Assurance and a Master’s in Business Administration.
