William A. Kilgore

Research Director, NASA Langley Research Center

William (Allen) Kilgore is currently the Director of the Research Directorate at NASA Langley Research Center. He provides executive leadership and oversight for the Center’s capabilities for fundamental and applied research within the disciplines of Aerosciences, Structures and Material and Intelligent Flight Systems.

Prior to this position, Mr. Kilgore spent over twenty years in the operations and associated research of NASA Langley’s major aerospace research facilities. During his time at Langley, he has worked in nearly all of the major wind tunnels with a primary focus on process controls, operations and advanced testing techniques. For several years, Mr. Kilgore led the U.S. National Transonic Facility, the world’s largest cryogenic wind tunnel.

Mr. Kilgore earned a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in dynamics and controls from Old Dominion University.
